Sunscreen • Lavera Baby Sun Spray

Lavera Baby Sun Spray Neutral & Kids Plant-Green Sun Spray

The Baby Neutral sunscreen doesn't contain "essential oils", which can irritate some of us with sensitive skin, but it still offers broad spectrum protection with coated Titanium Dioxide. A large portion of the ingredients are organic. When you have to use sunscreen rather than shade, I think this is one of the better ones out there. The Kids Plant-Green Sun Spray has a neat ingredient that is green when applied (so you can see where you might have missed) and then it disappears after a few minutes. Both have great texture, not thick and sticky.

This may seem a stretch as a "green" product, but I am not all that comfortable with sunscreen and applying gobs and gobs of it, when I don't exactly know what the safety is of some of the ingredients. Micronized Titanium Dioxide? I have heard internet rumors that nano particles and the like can get into your skin (they are micronizing to prevent that lovely white sheen you get from physical sunblock) and cause more harm than good, and gosh, what happens when it then gets into the environment...? Anyway, back to Sun Busters, they are cute, provide 50+ UPF, and are recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, so you can go to the beach in style and come home without a burn. Don't forget a hat!

Sunscreen • Trukid Sunny Days Lotion and Face Stick

Trukid Sunscreen Products: Lotion and Face Stick

Sunny Days™ SPF 30+ Natural Mineral SunscreenSunny Days™ SPF 30+ Natural Mineral Sunscreen Water Resistant Face Stick

I try to use hats and natural shade as the best protection against too much sun, but there are times when I use sunscreen in limited amounts. I have found this sunscreen for kids to have the least number of ingredients I couldn't identify. The Environmental Working Group's Cosmetic Safety Database lists the Face Stick as one of the ones with the least number of concerns. It is a natural mineral sunscreen meaning the protection starts right away, there is no need to wait for 30 minutes before heading out. You will have to reapply every 80 minutes for full protection all day.
