There are almost two million farms in the USA. About 80% of those are small farms, and a large percentage are family owned. Getting food directly from the farmer means it is fresher and picked ripe. Let your local farmers know what kind of growing practices you support, like organic, biodynamic, etc. Some farms already grow organically, but haven't gone through a certification process because of expense or paperwork. Use www.LocalHarvest.org to find Farms, CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture), Farm Markets, and locally sourcing Restaurants and Grocery Stores and support your local farm economy.
